Afterthought

I hope that when you read the blog you could read between the lines and comprehend the importance of what has transpired. I am sure that you can. I apologize for writing in a matter-of-fact way. So much passed in the 48 hours I spent at Castle Bolton and there is barely 48 minutes for me to blog about it as I have to go to work. I am holding back my enthusiasm as I have no real outlet except this blog. I hope to have more time and energy soon to be able to rewrite the blog from the other completely subjective, creative, optimistic side of me. Thanks.

While you were at Bolton, Did you see any portraits of Henry Scrope and Margaret Howard? Also, Are there any books at the castle that give in depth information on the two of them?

While I was at Bolton I was not able to see any portraits of Baron and Baroness Scrope as any paintings are located in another family residence several over 100 hundred miles away. There are no books other than the castle's souvenir guide that gives any history about the structure. No books give info about the Renaissance era residents. The website highlights only the men and gives only brief bios.

I am in talks with Tom Orde-Powlette, who is Lord Bolton's son, to be the renaissance historian for the castle. I hope to be responsible for writing the history of all the Baroness' Scrope, and specifically Margaret Howard, 9th Baroness Scrope and Mary, Queen of Scots. I am also trying to get Tom to consider hiring me as assistant manager and/or tour guide for the castle. So far he has made it clear that he has lost money this year and probably cannot afford to pay me. So I will stay where I am for now.

Bummer....Well I did find one photo of each of them on the internet. I guess for now that will have to do. I am making contact with a new seamstress to make me two new outfits for the coming year. Glad to hear you are doing well. Im glad that you had a chance to see the castle and that you will be seeing it again.
